AMES Resolutions

Four Top Reasons Why Resolutions are an Important Part of AMES

In summary, Resolutions serve the following purposes:

  • 1. Providing the front-line perspective on current policies and initiatives to government and its ministry.
  • 2. A forum for communicating our perspective to our administrators.
  • 3. Sharing information and experience amongst ourselves and collectively taking a position.
  • 4. Providing an educational introduction to employment counseling values for new members who have recently begun delivering employment initiatives.

Keep these points about resolutions in mind as you go about your day to day work and jot down a note when you think of something that needs addressing.

What is a Resolution?

A resolution is a format statement of position or request for action put forward in a standardized format for discussion and decision by the voting members of AMES at the Annual General Meeting.

Why Submit a Resolution?

Resolutions are developed and put forward primarily as a means of communication between the General Membership and the Board of Directors of AMES regarding important Employment Services issues.

When and Where Should Resolutions be Submitted?

Resolutions can be submitted to the President of AMES (Or any Board Member) at any time.

Resolutions may also be received from the floor by a Voting Member during the Annual General Membership.

How Do You Write a Resolution?

No matter how well constructed, a resolution is never quite complete without an appropriate title. The title should be short and direct, reflecting the issues at hand.
